Are you feeling lost right now? Struggling with what to do, where to go, and how to engage in life that creates a sense of joy and accomplishment? Recently I found myself in a place that I did not appreciate nor understood how I got there. I could label it many things but bored would be at the top of the list. Second, I would call it lost in this crazy journey we are all on. Let me expand and perhaps we can find a way out and get back on the path God originally placed us on.

We have been diverted to an unknown road that seems to have no end in sight. On this road our futures look bleak preventing our view of both sides of the road to go very deep. I realized this morning how my lens has been covered over with attitudes of fear and hatred, not necessarily ones that I own, but rather placed upon me to keep me bound. I want to live again. I want to use my voice again without someone stifling it. I want my joy back, quality relationships, and laughter that lightens my soul. I want to live out my divine purpose. On the outside I feel trapped unable to move. Yet on the inside there is a scream to let me go. Inside is a fire burning that I cannot keep in its container any longer.

Recently I had to travel out of town and stayed a motel. At six o’clock in the morning the fire alarm went off waking us out of a deep sleep. At first I thought it was a false alarm and did not take it seriously but then after several minutes of the alarm blaring, I realized this was the real deal. We quickly grabbed our things and headed for the stairway out the exit door. Standing there I kept hearing in my spirit – fire starters. As I sought the Lord about what he was saying to me, I knew the Lord was igniting fires in his people to arise and join him. I remember looking around at the people standing outside the building. Most were still in their pajamas. Some were construction workers ready for their day. Some appeared frantic while others talked openly with those around them. Most had not brought anything out of the room with them. What surprised me the most was that like me, most did not appear concerned but were patiently waiting for someone to tell us it was okay to return to the building within our own separate rooms. No fire truck was in sight and it seemed forever for the alarms to turn off.

As I talked to the Lord about this, he revealed to me what was taking place in the body of Christ. First, many of us are not paying attention to his fire alarm. Due to our perceptions being covered over by deception, wrong attitudes, and fear, our view of what is happening in the spirit realm is skewed. We are apathetic and do not understand the importance of taking God seriously about praying and getting in position for such a time as this. Second, some of us have allowed lies from the enemy to cause such a frantic within that we are paralyzed and literally shut down inside. The cords of bondage are being wrapped tighter and tighter crippling us from doing or saying anything. The Lord was showing me how this is the enemy’s tactic – keep us nonchalant and compliant or in a state of intense fear. Both of these tactics place us under control and deception useless to the kingdom of God.

Next, the Lord revealed he is calling us regardless of how we are dressed. Some were ready to step into their day while others had not put on their assignments. Regardless, the Lord is saying, “I am making you a fire starter.”

What is a fire starter?

“Firestarters create things, disrupt things, and/or start things. They’re the people who change the world and industries, start movements and businesses, and innovate when others are content. They inspire others to be better, and seek out situations where their impact can be maximized.”

(Davis, Raoul, Palokoff, Kathy; Eder, Paul (Firestarters: How innovators, Instigators, and Initiators Can Inspire You to Ignite Your Own Life, 2018).

I believe God is sending out his alarm throughout the world to those who are willing to get out of their slumber and begin creating new things for him. He is calling forth disrupters who will start movements, innovate and inspire others to step into divine purposes igniting fires wherever they go. You are being summoned to become a fire starter.

I was one who still had my pajamas on yet had brought everything with me when I left my room. I drove home in my pajamas because I had to go to work. The message to me was very clear and I believe this message is for all of us in the body of Christ. He needs us to go to work for him, pick up our assignments, and allow that fire within to burn. It does not matter how you are dressed, what your perception is regarding qualifications, you have a fire already ignited that needs to expand in full flame. Everything you need in within your belongings. Get dressed and step into your next assignment. He has given you the right clothing, a powerful voice, strategies, and his total support. It is just a matter of putting on what he has already provided.

For those who are not yet dressed, go shopping! Your assignment is on the shelf waiting for you to pick up. I felt the Lord say it is time to pull it off the shelf where it was placed because you felt unworthy to carry it and perhaps disqualified yourself. God needs you to get dressed for he has greatness in store for you. If you are already dressed and ready, then the Lord says go. Go! Open your voice! Expand your territory! Take back what the enemy has taken!

I believe there is a time coming when 2 Chronicles 7:3 will be fulfilled again. Solomon had just finished building a temple for the Lord. He knelt down in front of the entire community, lifted his hands toward heaven, and prayed. Fire starters are those who will stand before many proclaiming the one true God unafraid. Fire starters hear from heaven and declare truth that will result in repentance, deeper intimacy and divine positioning. Fire starters are those who ignite, breathe upon, and fan the flames of revival, restoration, transformation, and advancement of the Kingdom of God. These flames will unite into a major movement across the world. Jeremiah 23:29 says, “Does not my word burn like fire? says the Lord. Is it not like a mighty hammer that smashes a rock to pieces?” These fire starters will burn with the word of the Lord and smash through falsities and mixed messages. Pure truth will cut through every obstacle. From this a great divide will take place separating the wheat and the tare.

When Solomon’s prayer was finished, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. When we as fire starters bow down, repent, turn away from all idols, sacrifice and fully commit to the Lord and his ways, the glory of the Lord will fill our temple and go with us setting fires everywhere we go.

As the Lord opens many hearts to enter the call to be a fire starter, I believe eyes will be opened. 2 Kings 6:17 was highlighted to me by the Lord for everyone who accepts this call. “Then Elisha prayed, O Lord open his eyes and let him see! The Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.” Fire starters will go forth as a strong, mighty army with full assistance from the Lord. They will go forth accomplishing miracles with the mindset that nothing is impossible with God.

As you are reading this word, a commissioning is taking place. Answer the call for victory is yours. It is a now time to release that fire that is within you. Let it fan the flame of the greatest harvest we have ever seen.
