Open my eyes Lord that I may see what you are doing in my midst.  Open my heart to understand your ways of fighting so that I may engage with you.  Open my ears to hear the sounds of victory for I trust you completely, Lord.

This was my prayer.  I wanted to see, hear, and understand the whys and the how around my battle in the ICU.  During my time in the ICU, I was heavily sedated and could not move any parts of my body except my eyes.  I knew healing was occurring on the inside but lacked understanding.  My spirit, full of hope, did not line up with my body which was slowly losing physical strength.

When I do not understand, I seek the Lord.  I recall hearing the Lord say, ‘What do you see, Lois?’  My eyes then opened to see a host of angels hovering near the ceiling of the ICU room I was in.  Behind me stood a large commanding angel whom I knew was in complete charge of the activity that took place over me.

I then was able to see many varying types of arrows throughout my body.  The largest one protruded out from my right lung.  I heard the Lord say, ‘The enemy was desperate to destroy you.  He thrust this arrow with such force to take your breath away.  This arrow had hit so hard that it went deep and became only a shadow.  It was not meant to be discovered.’  With ex-rays in two different hospitals, it went unnoticed until the angel of the Lord redirected the doctor’s hands.  It was then that the punctured air pocket was discovered, and my healing began.  The large arrow was removed, and I then went from being 100% on the ventilator to 50%.

I continued to watch as this commanding angel would direct a couple of angels to work on my body, remove a few arrows, and then go back to their positions around the ceiling.  Each time, a whirling of movement would take place, an excitement that resulted in clapping and praising God.  I heard the sound of war,  victory, and praise.  This sound caused a change in my spirit and then suddenly I not only felt the healing within but also could do something I previously was unable to.

I asked the Lord about the arrows because I knew some had been there for a long time while others were fairly new.  Some were broken off and had signs of being infected.  Some were very short and had barely broken the skin while others were deep and painful.  As I sought the Lord about these arrows, he began revealing to me some of the strategies of the enemy.

Psalm 64:2-3 “Lord, can’t you hear my cry, my bitter complaint?  Keep me safe from this band of criminals and from the conspiracy of these wicked men.  They gather in their secret counsel to destroy me.  Can’t you hear their slander, their lies?  Their words are like poison-tipped arrows shot from the shadows.  They are unafraid and have no fear of consequences.  They set their traps against us in secret.”

Some of these arrows were lies, accusations and slander that had been spoken over me.  It is the same for you.   You may have been pierced with accusations and lies that you have not released forgiveness to those who hurt you.  It is poison tipped meant to keep you in hurt and bondage.   Psalm 57:4-6 speaks of words like arrows being threats and betrayal.  Proverbs 26:18 refers to these arrows as deception.

If we continue reading in verse seven,  “But all the while God has his own fire-tipped arrows!  Suddenly, without warning, they will be pierced and struck down.  Staggering backwards  they will be destroyed… Then all will stand awestruck over what God has done”.  The Lord fights our battles for us.  His arrows are fire-tipped and sent to destroy the work of the enemy.

God has his arrows as well.  Read  2 Kings 13:17-18 which describes his arrows of victory and deliverance.  God shoots his arrows and the enemy scatters.  If we reside under the shadow of his wings, we do not have to fear the arrows that fly by day.

I realized that I stepped out from his shadow and allowed various arrows to pierce me.  I came into agreement of their words – accusations, lies, slander, deception and betrayal.  I watched as arrows were removed from my body and strength seeped back in.  I began to fight again, breathe in life, and accept the deliverance of the Lord.  I became determined to dwell wholeheartedly in the shelter of the Most High.  I rejoiced that he was my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I could trust.

Some of you listening, may be outside God’s shelter.  You may not even be aware of how it happened or the depth of your agreement.  What is important is that you step back under his shelter and allow him to guide you toward deliverance.
