“They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.” Jeremiah 17:8

I heard the Lord say, ‘I am turning up the heat’. I pondered this word because it implies that things are going to get worse or something bad is going to happen. The word heat spoken in this way often means to increase or become more intense. But there is another definition of heat

that I believe the Lord wants us to understand in these times of intense struggle nationally and personally. The heat God is speaking about not only refers to us but to what God is doing right now in this season. He calls us to become excited emotionally, to be enflamed or roused with passion for his purposes on the earth today.

In Jeremiah 17:8, God’s anger has been kindled against Judah because they continue to worship false gods and teach their children to do the same. Because of sin throughout their country, God informed them that he will give away their inheritance, their wealth, and their treasures as plunder. (Jeremiah 17:3). He also informs them that he will enslave them to their enemies.

Yet when I heard the words, I am turning up the heat, I knew in my spirit that God was giving us power to go through whatever heat the enemy poured out upon us and this nation, and come out on the other side in victory. If we look at the mess our nation, our families, and our own personal lives may currently be in, our eyes will not see ‘the goodness of the Lord’.

“Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter. Who is the King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty; the Lord, invincible in battle.” Psalm 24:7-8

So, who are gazing at? The Lord is strong and mighty, invincible in battle, and those who trust in him, have confidence in him will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. We need to be like trees planted and near the water and let our roots go deep in the word. Roots naturally will grow toward the water. When our roots grow in the Lord, we don’t have to worry in a season of drought for our leaves will remain green.

God is telling us to go deep in Him! Trust in Him! Be confident! Our leaves will remain green regardless of how difficult the drought is and we will bear fruit.

It is a time to shift away from religious works and striving out of our own strength. Operating out of God’s strength, viewing our lives from God’s perspective, and becoming passionate about God’s intentions for us will place us above our circumstances. Heat naturally rises to the top. So no matter what may be taking place in your life right now, the Lord’s protection is upon you. You will rise to the top if you turn toward Him and stand strong. As Paul said in 2 Timothy 3:10, everything that he went through the Lord rescued him from all of them. Don’t live in the fear of what the enemy is sending but rather become passionate and enflamed about your life in Christ and rise above.

Lord, pour out your glory, passion, and anointing upon our lives in greater measure. Cause us to rise about every circumstance or trial that attempts to thwart our assignments for you. I declare we our enflamed by love, courage, boldness, and strength as we step into everything you have designed specifically for us. We have faith and come into totally agreement with your purpose and plan for our lives, in Jesus’ name.
