What have you compromised in this season? This is a question the Lord asked me. I quickly was convicted of many things I have compromised the last couple of years. I realized that my voice had been compromised and I had backed down many times when bullied about my beliefs and opinions. It saddened me that I had not stood up for truth in the word of God.
I believe there are many of us who have done the same thing. The Lord then spoke strongly in my spirit that ‘Truth tellers must come forth’ and when they do they will stand up against the many injustices taking place in the word today. The thought of being a truth teller, especially being called by God for the assignment, initially pumps one up. Soon reality sets in as to the extent of such an assignment. Overall, it most likely will not be fun nor one that positions up in higher places in the world’s view. Many conflicts will result when we speak truth just as it did for Jesus. Yet he confidently went forward confronting those who were sinful, those who needed healing, deliverance, and especially those religious leaders who were not walking out in purity.
Our rights are being taken away and the rights of a few (those holding to nonbiblical views) are taking over. As a follower of Jesus Christ, what are we to do about this? For many of us, complacency has set in until our lives, our business, or our place of employment are targeted. And sometimes, even in these situations, we do nothing.
The big question arises – Is there anything we can do? Like the Israelites who were taken in captivity where freedom was stripped away do we settle in and accept too? Will we, too, be placed in intense bondage? I pray not.
I was directed to James 4:4 “You have become spiritual adulterers who are having an affair, an unholy relationship with the world. Don’t you know that flirting with the world’s values places you at odds with God? Whoever chooses to be the world’s friend makes himself God’s enemy!”
Talk about conviction! I believe many of us are having an unholy relationship with the world and are confused about what truth is. Have we become God’s enemy? My prayer is that we repent and are restored to correct relationship so that we can stand up for truth. James continues to write in this chapter in verse 7, “So, then, surrender to God. Stand up to the devil and resist him and he will turn and run away from you. Move your heart closer and closer to God, and he will come even closer to you. But make sure you cleanse your life, you sinners, and keep your heart pure and stop doubting. Feel the pain of your sin, be sorrowful and weep Let your joking around be turned into mourning and your joy into deep humiliation. Be willing to be made low before the Lord and he will exalt you.”
Truth tellers stand up to the evil in the world today not just in individuals but in our churches, our society, our politics, and our government. Truth tellers have a pure heart with pure motives to advance the kingdom of God instead of their own agendas. We must return to our first love. Do you now feel the same conviction I experienced? I know there are many truth tellers listening and desiring to step into this assignment. I also understand how challenging it will be. Remember, God never leaves us or forsakes us. Isaiah 43:2-3a tells us “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
If you examine your life today you are going through many trials. Some of us are simply managing these trials without much victory. Remember he is your Lord, your Savior and will be with you and give your victory as you step into this assignment as a truth teller. He needs us to join his army.
Confrontation is a gift he has given us. We use it to take back territory the enemy has stolen. Use it to retrieve your children, your family, restore your marriage, your voice, or be removed from an ungodly situation or alignment you may be currently attached to. God has you. Become a truth teller!
